I went ice skating today at Iceland in Mississauga, and don't think I'll be going back. Why?

a) the rink-size is small
b) they place annoying orange pylons on the four neutral-zone face-off dots, which you are supposed to skate around
c) I was skating backwards at one point and one of the patrols came over to me and advised me that there is no backwards skating allowed

...these things are all good for kids and families but that's about it. Anyone know any full-sized rinks in Mississauga (or the GTA) that have public skating and maybe aren't so anal (ie. backwards skating is allowed, etc.)?

I dont know how to skate but when i was way younger i would still try it out and of course not skate very well. I'm shocked the rules have never changed cause a friend of mine or should say ex friend used to be one of those safety people and he would tell so many people about not skating backwards and please skate on the outter edge of the pylons.

I guess you never thought about skating at Nathans Phillips Square?
